Education

Sun has always long demonstrated a dedication to the education market by offering software packages at a low-to-no cost for schools. Sun’s long-standing commitment to open standards and collaboration with academic and open source developer communities providing teachers, students, campus IT staff and healthcare professionals with unrestricted access to Sun diverse software offerings, which allows each to evaluate, test, teach and develop with the latest Sun software. Continuing in this tradition, Sun has announced two landmark moves in the battle to create the software platform of choice for the next-generation of Internet Users.

First, having seen tremendous momentum with the SolarisTM Operating System as free and open source software, Sun is making the JavaTM Enterprise System, Sun N1TM Management software and Sun developer tools available at no cost for both development and deployment and further, is reaffirming its commitment to open source this software. Second, Sun is announcing that it is integrating all of this software along with the Solaris OS into the SolarisTM Enterprise System, the only comprehensive and open infrastructure software platform available today.
